Drop a line to your IT folks that SketchUp needs access to the Internet via ports 500 just in case your network whitelists those kinds of things. There’s one very important difference to note with regard to this new licensing technology: you'll need to have an active Internet connection to add a license and remove a license from your computer. Now, we make the change for you on the server and you don't have to change a thing!

Before, we would generate a new serial number and you would have to go out and update the license within SketchUp Pro. So you found out that a 20-seat network license isn't enough and you need to add another five seats.

Now, with the network license manager in the cloud, your users only need access to the Internet. Network licenses of old were more like LAN Licenses, because they only worked across a LAN. Just be sure to do it before you go offline, though. Need to work on a plane or show a model to client in a remote location? Now you can check out a network license seat for offline use.

Government agencies are considered to be commercial users and must purchase a SketchUp Pro license. For example, but not as a limitation, if you are employed as a member of the professional staff of an educational institution such as the facilities management team, you are considered to be engaged in for-profit activity and you must purchase a SketchUp Pro license. However, if you are an employee of an educational institution and your job responsibilities are not those of a qualified instructor, you must purchase a SketchUp Pro license.

This includes installation and use of the Software in teaching labs at an educational institution, provided that use of the Software is by enrolled students who are engaged in classroom learning activities at the educational institution.

If you are a qualified instructor at an educational institution, or you are an enrolled student at an educational institution and use the Software in your classwork, you may use the Software for classroom teaching purposes, and classwork purposes.
